Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden

Tranquil, relaxing, engaging. These are but a few words to describe Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, a secret hideaway waiting to be discovered. Home to thousands of the delicately beautiful Candelabra Primula growing all over the place and a host of woodland animals, Fairhaven is located in South Walsham, Norfolk.

I am lucky to go there at this time of the year where the Primulas are at their best. They have a whole-year calendar of events where one can choose from a variety of activities that will suit anyone be it a Ghost walk, a themed photography workshop, a wildlife or musical festival and a whole lot more. Winged Visitors

As well as two-legged visitors, these winged visitors have their fair share of the woodland garden, us to enjoy the beauty of the nature, them to feed on and pollinate the flowers.

Half-day is enough to walk in and around the woodland including a one-hour guided boat trip in a private broad. But a whole day is preferably better in order to get the most of the garden.
Rhododendrons also dotted the woodland in groups, most of them are purple, adding glory and wonders to the eye.

This lake is actually a flooded pit. During World War Two, the place was used as a training ground for the home guard. We ended our day sitting by the lake, watching the boats and getting soaked in the sun.
